sweet little thing and some big news

Oh my! I love this little thing, so amazingly sweet!! It's understated, yet a standout all at the same time. I envision this one with farmhouse decor acting as a TV stand or at the foot of a bed holding blankets :-)

To get this look, we used Dixie Belle Drop Cloth (a perfect neutral "off white") and gave a slight distressing with a 220 sander. This one gave us a bit of trouble with bleed through, that didn't happen until a few weeks later when it was sitting in a store - oops!!! It's a reminder to us to always prime when painting with lighter colored paint. All fixed now, it's been sealed with General Finishes High Performance top coat in satin finish. The top is a custom wash of grays to achieve a perfectly aged barnwood look. See how gorgeous?!?!

It's always an experimental thing, but we simply layered on watered down paint (ratio of about 2:1 water to paint) in different colors of gray, sanding in between to bring out the natural wood underneath. This leaves a beautiful faux barnwood look that I am in love with and will be doing on some coming pieces!! You can even add some white wash if desired, although we didn't for this piece.

We finished with some custom knobs - straight from picking all of the Hobby Lobby stores in a 30 mile radius :-) I think they were made for this piece.....

One of my favorite parts is always the staging/photo shoot. We wanted this one to have that cute farmhouse look and the pig was a must! We had soooo many people reach out over that pig, LOL!!! We found him at First Friday's West Bottoms in Kansas City, MO - one of the ABSOLUTE funnest girl trips ever for antiquing. If you've never been, it's basically a giant flea market/shabby chic/vintage lover's dream in KC the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday of every month (not sure if it's only summer months, but that is when we go). They host several vendors in a large warehouse district and it's an absolute blast, complete with food trucks (YUM!!!!) and more vintage finds than you have room to haul.

Sooooo......we mentioned some big news. Well, yes, big news and we are pretty darn excited!! We are now officially placing our pieces for sale at Elderberry Place in O'Fallon, MO. We absolutely LOVE this store and we promise you will find something you need for your home upon every single visit!!! Furniture, decor, hand made signs, teas, soaps, old books, vintage pieces and on and on and on.......Make sure to visit and give them some love: https://elderberryplacemarket.com/ and you can find them on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/elderberryplace/.

This sweet little thing is sitting up there right now waiting for someone to claim it :-) Come on up!!!!
